CFISD students recognized in Superintendent Holiday Card Contest

Sampson Elementary School fifth grade student Sydney Hines was named Best in Show in the elementary school category with her collage piece titled “Holiday Greetings” in the annual Superintendent Holiday Card Contest.

Nov. 17, 2023—Students from Sampson Elementary School, Sprague Middle School and Cypress Springs High School earned “Best in Show” in the annual Superintendent Holiday Card Contest, selected from 262 entries across all grade levels.

CFISD Superintendent Dr. Mark Henry and associate superintendents served as judges for the contest, designating a first-, second- and third-place winner for each grade level and choosing the “Best in Show” winner at the elementary, middle and high school level from the first-place grade-level winners.

Sprague Middle School eighth grade student Kaitlyn Ricci was named Best in Show in the middle school category.

Sampson fifth grade student Sydney Hines won Elementary Best in Show for her piece titled “Holiday Greetings.” Sprague eighth grade student Kaitlyn Ricci won Middle School Best in Show for her piece titled “A Treasured Reflection,” and Cypress Springs senior Enrique Figueredo Almeida won High School Best in Show for his piece titled “Christmas Dreams.”

“The adjudication team was thoroughly impressed with this year’s entries, showcasing a remarkable variety of artworks representing diverse mediums, techniques and grade levels,” said Lee Carrier, visual arts coordinator.

Cypress Springs High School senior Enrique Figueredo Almeida was named Best in Show in the high school category.
